Andrea offers a compassionate, direct approach to individual therapy. Her role is to support clients in reaching toward their best self, the one they may have lost touch with. She is an active listener, supportive and non-judgmental. She will provide an alternate perspective and help you discover the patterns getting in your way.

Andrea feels strongly about utilizing evidence-based practices and regularly incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness meditation into her work. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a specialized treatment that is particularly effective for trauma survivors. Andrea’s therapy practice is grounded in feminist and relational theories. Her focus on social justice and trauma-informed care are critical components of her therapy work.

Andrea has extensive training and knowledge working with anxiety, depression, PTSD, relationship difficulties and substance use concerns. She has a deep commitment to working with individuals identifying within LGBTQ+ communities. Andrea has a dedication and a familiarity in affirmatively practicing with individuals identifying as kinky, poly and folks describing their relationship structures as open or non-monogamous. She regularly serves as a support for folks exploring sexuality and gender identity.

Individual therapy is highly personalized and tailored to meet each client's specific needs. Andrea provides short term services for immediate concerns and longer-term therapy for chronic issues. Please know that sessions are confidential and any information exchanged is considered protected health information.

Clinical Supervision & Consultation

Andrea has cultivated a passion for supporting new clinicians and building strong clinical teams. She has had the opportunity to supervise graduate students, licensed social workers and other master’s level clinicians working toward their full clinical licensure. Andrea has also provided individual supervision to more senior clinicians — licensed clinical social workers, licensed clinical professional counselors and licensed clinical psychologists. Andrea sees clinical supervision as a collaborative, relational process. Discussions of challenging clinical interactions are paired with an intentional focus on the impact of the clinical work on the clinician.

Bio

Andrea is an experienced psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with over ten years of post-graduate experience. She has trained and worked in an outpatient clinic specializing in the unique needs of LGBTQ clients and HIV impacted communities. She has provided therapy and advocacy in a program tailored to those who have experienced intimate partner violence. Andrea has worked in specialized outpatient and intensive outpatient substance use programs, utilizing both abstinence-based and harm reduction frameworks. Andrea has completed psychiatric evaluations in emergency rooms, worked in outpatient clinics, community mental health centers and private therapy practices.

Andrea completed her studies at The University of Wisconsin in Madison. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Women’s Studies and Master of Social Work with a concentration in mental health.
